Evening Prayers Followed by Debate in the Monlam Pavilion

10th Arya Kshema Dharma Gathering,
Bodh Gaya,
22 November, 2025

༄༅། །བཙུན་དགོན་བཤད་གྲྭའི་འདུས་དམངས་ནས་ཞལ་འདོན་དང་ཕྱི་དྲོ་རྩོད་ཟླ།

After evening prayers in Tergar Shrine Hall, the nuns and their teachers moved across to the Monlam Pavilion for individual debate.

The nuns study beforehand from textbooks specially prepared several years ago by the Gyalwang Karmapa and a team of khenpos and monks. These textbooks are the same as those used by the monks during their Winter Debate session. This year the debate and study covers the three foundational topics: Dudra: Collected Topics; Tagrig: Types of Evidence; and Lorig: Mind and Awareness.

For the first time, this year, some of the nuns will begin debating from the intermediate level topic of Prajñāpāramitā, the Perfection of Wisdom, known as Parchin in Tibetan, which focuses on an understanding of the Buddhist path. Their debate and study will be based on the first chapter of The Ornament of Clear Realisation.

The debating is supervised and assisted by teachers from the participating nunneries.
